Account and app
License
In Settings → License. A license is valid for one Mac at a time.
The trial
The trial unlocks the whole app for 14 days, with no key and no account.
- The counter: shows the days left in Settings → License.
- The alert at the top of the canvas: appears with 5 days or fewer left. Closing it keeps it quiet until the number of days drops, and then it comes back.
- The trial is counted per machine and does not restart: deleting the app and installing it again does not give the 14 days back, and deactivating a license on this Mac does not either.
- When it ends, a screen covers the app and asks for a license. Your canvases, panels, notes and conversations stay on disk, untouched.
Activating
The key arrives in the purchase email, in the format CC-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.
- The activation field: paste the key and click Activate. It appears in Settings → License and also on the screen that covers the app once access has ended.
- Buy a license: opens the purchase page in the system browser. With an expired subscription, it becomes Renew subscription.
- Once activated, the Activated section shows the purchase email, the plan, this Mac's name and the date of the next renewal. On a lifetime license, it says "vitalícia" in place of the date.
What the app answers when activation doesn't go through:
| what appears | what to do |
|---|---|
| Key not found | Check the purchase email and type it exactly. |
| This license is already active on another Mac | Deactivate it there first. |
| This license has been canceled | Contact support. |
| This Mac was removed from the license | Activate the key here again. |
| Subscription expired | Renew and activate again. |
| Too many attempts in a row | Wait a few minutes. |
| Couldn't reach the server | Check your connection and try again. |
Moving to another Mac
- Deactivate this Mac: frees the license's seat and asks for confirmation first. The key becomes valid on another computer, and the work on this Mac stays where it was.
- If the server does not answer, the license leaves this Mac anyway.
- If this computer is removed from the license somewhere else, the app says "This Mac was removed from the license" instead of treating it as an ended trial. Activating the key here again fixes it.
Offline
The app works offline. From time to time it confirms the license with the server, in the background, without interrupting anything.
- Once the confirmation date that came with the license has passed, the app stays unlocked for 21 more days. During that window, an alert at the top of the canvas counts how many days are left to reconnect. That alert does not close.
- When those 21 days run out, the app asks for a trip to the network, with the Revalidate now button. The license is still yours, and this is not a new purchase.
- Revalidate now also appears under Activated, so you can confirm the license on the spot.
- The background confirmation is what makes a cancellation, or a seat freed elsewhere, reach this Mac.
What the plan changes
Access to the app does not depend on the plan. Two things do: messages and the paired iPhone, which are part of the Team plan.
Without that plan, both screens say so and do nothing else. With an expired license, your contacts and paired devices stay where they are and work again when you renew.
